We had a scorching July. August will be a bit cooler, I hope. And we have got a boat load of activities, events, and small groups that we have been planning for. We continue Sunday School and Worship every Sunday morning, starting at 9am. Next week we start off on our worship series on poverty. Below is the Worship Schedule. The various choirs are starting back up. And we will have the elevator functioning in August.

There are a number of ongoing groups and events. I want to point out some of the new or special ones. The first is the Justice Ministry Workshop on Saturday, Aug. 19th, from 10am to 12 noon. This is a District event being held at our church. We will be using it to launch the work a Justice Ministry Team led by Gail Davis. The "Bridges Out of Poverty" Book Study will undergird the work of the Justice Ministry Team and the worship series.

The second event is the Eclipse Viewing Party on the 21st of August. If you will be in Fenton, then this might be an opportunity to help with the activities. If you are in Worship on Sunday the 20th you will get a free pair of eclipse glasses.

Several new groups get started in August. The first is the "Bridges Out of Poverty" Book Study, which begins Monday, Aug. 14th at 11am or Thursday, Aug. 17th at 5:30pm. Participants will begin a series on understanding and overcoming Poverty. There are no easy answers or quick fixes to poverty, but there are ways to build bridges out of it. I hope you will consider being a part of the book study.

The United Methodist Men will meet a bit earlier this fall (6pm on the 4th Tuesday) to make room for a monthly class called "Letters from Dad", that will meet for the first time, from 6:45 - 8:00pm on Tuesday, August 22nd, in the Library.

And Disciple Bible Study will be starting up again. Exact times and days will be determined by those interested. There are four possible Disciple Class versions.

Check out the rest of the newsletter for more details on every class or study offered in August.

See you in church, Pastor
